Allergy Companions is a review site for anyone suffering with food allergies, intolerances or coeliac disease, here to make eating out with allergies easier and to give the free from and allergic community a voice.
Being diagnosed with an allergy or coeliac disease can feel daunting. In this section we share a selection of online groups that can offer practical advice and support if you are affected by these conditions. Please get in touch if we should be featuring a group that has provided support for you or your loved ones.
SMILE is the first mental health app to support patients and carers dealing with chronic health conditions. It can be very hard to come to terms with a difficult diagnosis, adapt to a new normal or ride the waves of uncertainty. SMILE was developed to provide evidence based, expert led support accessible at home, when you need it most. Research shows that people dealing with chronic health conditions are 2-3 times more likely to develop a mental health condition than average. SMILE is here to help support your wellbeing and enable you to live your best life, whatever physical health challenges you face. Learn more about the SMILE story
Official Allergy UK Support Group
A Facebook support group run by Allergy UK. The group is open to anyone affected by any allergy, so the questions can relate to skin conditions, asthma, and food allergies.
UK parents of children with nut & peanut allergies
A support group for parents of young or older children affected by food allergies. Although the group refers to allergies to nuts and peanuts, it is also a great place to ask general questions and advice regarding allergies, what products to buy, and how to live with food allergies.
Peanut and Nut Allergy Travel Tips
Similar to UK parents of children with nut & peanut allergies (above), this support group is aimed at younger and older adults looking for everyday advice on travelling in the UK and abroad with these allergies. Participants tend to look for advice on travel, holidays and hotels that are great at catering for people with allergies.
Coeliac Disease Support Group. This group helps and supports anyone who is directly or indirectly affected by coeliac disease. The content on the group tends to vary, from people sharing useful recipes of gluten free dishes, to products that are (and aren’t) gluten free. Many people also use the group to ask for advice on how to cope with the disease or where to look for further support once diagnosed.
A UK based group that aims to support anyone affected by coeliac disease, or that for health reasons has to follow a gluten free diet. On this group you can be surrounded by support and advice from those living with Coeliac Disease and the dietary changes we have to take on our journey to a healthier you.
Allergy Travels Group
A wonderful Facebook group that is open to members from all over the world. In this group people affected by a variety of allergies and dietary conditions share their stories, mainly positive, of places they have visited and where they were able to have an enjoyable holiday.
In this group you can also ask for travel advice if you are looking for safe hotels, resorts and restaurants for your holiday.
