If you require any clarification or for more information: info@freefromfoodawards.co.uk

Rules of Entry

  1. All products must be available for sale across the UK (in retail outlets or by mail order) by 01/05/2021. A valid UK website from which products can be bought must be supplied.
  2. Samples submitted must be production products on sale to the public and not pre-production samples.
  3. Samples must be submitted in the packaging in which they are to be sold.
  4. The organisers take the product/freefrom labelling and any accompanying information at face value and assume that the supplier can justify all claims. If anything needs clarification the organisers reserve the right to ask for more information.
  5. PAL – we follow the Food Standards Agency guidance on precautionary allergen labelling. If there is a risk of a food product being affected by allergen cross-contamination, the label should include one of the following statements: ‘may contain X’ ~ ‘not suitable for someone with X allergy’. Precautionary allergen labelling should only be used after a thorough risk assessment. It should only be used if the risk of allergen cross-contamination is real and cannot be removed.
If the product does not carry any PAL – eg ‘may contain’ warnings – we assume that a full risk assessment has been carried out and that comprehensive allergen management protocols are in place so that even if one of the 14 major allergens is handled by the same factory there will be no risk to the allergic consumer.
Therefore, carrying a statement that the product is manufactured in a factory which also handles/uses x allergen will not bar that product from entering the Almost Totally FreeFrom category provided that it does not also carry a ‘may contain x allergen’ warning.
  6. Companies may enter as many products in as many categories as they wish. Cost of entry is per product in each category entered.  Each flavour or variation of the product is a separate entry. For example – if a small brand wants to enter 1 flavour of 1 product = £105 + VAT x 3 categories entered = total of £315 + VAT.
  7. Own label products may be entered either by retailers or manufacturers but only retailers/own-brand names will be credited with the entry for allocation of Awards tickets.
  8. We do not accept a ‘range’ of flavour variations as one product. Each flavour or variation of the product is a separate entry.
  9. Products previously entered into the FreeFrom Food Awards are eligible for re-entry.
  10. Payment for each entry must have been received through the awards’ payment portal or, if the entrant cannot for whatever reason use the shop, a purchase order or other arrangement for payment must have been received by the awards by the closing date for the awards. Any product for which the entry fee has not been received by the 1st January 2021 will forfeit its entry into the awards. We only need one company entry form per company.
  11. Entries will only be accepted when all sections of the entry forms have been completed in full.
  12. Entries cannot be withdrawn after the awards’ closure date and no refund of entry fees will be given for products that, for whatever reason, are not available for the judging or are not on the market by 01/05/2021.
  13. Entrants will be asked to submit tasting samples. Details of where, when and how much to send will be provided after entry to the awards has closed.
  14. All samples must be received by the deadline specified or the product will forfeit its entry into the Awards and its entry fee.
  15. The organisers will prepare products for tasting according to the printed instructions on the packs in which the products are sold.
  16. The organisers reserve the right to change the categories and organisational details without prior notice.
  17. The organisers reserve the right to accept or reject entries.
  18. The decision of the judging panel is final and the FreeFrom Food Awards will not enter into any correspondence about the judges’ decisions.
  19. It is a condition of entry that all entrants will be bound by these rules.

Nairn’s

The Free From Food Awards are one of the most credible awards on the circuit, and we tend to enter products every year.  Much of our innovation in recent years has been in the gluten free side of our business so it’s a great opportunity for us to showcase some of our new products.  To free from consumers, displaying the winners logo on pack is a sign of quality and safety, and a win certainly adds value to the conversations our sales team have with their buyer contacts when talking about listings.  The awards themselves are really straightforward to enter and very well organised and they’re attracting some great brands, both big and small, to enter which highlights just how far free from foods have come in recent years.

Bute Island

This year (2018) we won Gold at the Free From Food Awards for our Dairy Free Grated Mild Cheddar Sheese. We have submitted products to these awards over the last ten years, and have been proud to win awards for various products. The process of entering the products is clear and straight  forward. The Bute Island team have attended several of the awards ceremonies and found them to be not only enjoyable, but beneficial for the business. It’s always been a pleasure and an honour to be part of the Free From Awards.

ChocChick

We have been entering the FFF Awards since 2010 and have had some incredible networking opportunities, caught up with industry leaders, begun collaborations and even met with senior buyers who listed our products in stores, so to have won Gold this year for our Cacao Nibbles was the icing on the cake. We are incredibly proud to be part of the Free From family.

Mina Said-AllsoppWildcraft Bakery

The networking opportunities at the FFFA18 party have been really amazing – we’ve met people we have been following on instagram and twitter… We met the founder of Genius which is… AMAZING! We are so excited to put the freefrom logo on our website and all our products.

Our win opened a door to a national distributor in the UK allowing us to get our popcorn in front of all the big UK contract caterers, winning new business with Baxter Storey, Caterlink and many others!  A fantastic award like this really does get you noticed!  We are delighted with our win and will be entering our Hasta La Vista in next years award 100%

For us at Nairn’s, winning gold is as much about internal reward as it is about anything external or consumer facing.  For those involved in developing and trialling the products and bringing them to market, winning any of the FFAs further recognition of a job well done and gives a real sense of pride and achievement to the team.

The FFFA have been at the forefront of driving innovation, awareness and availability of an increasing range in the Free From arena since before it was a trend. The FreeFrom Food awards remain a focus point for the industry and are a great platform for communication and engagement

The website gives one place where parents can go and look to see which companies have been shortlisted, who won… it’s a great chance to see the range of products available on the freefrom market that aren’t just in their local supermarkets. Products that have got the FreeFrom Food Awards logo give parents confidence that not only do they taste good, but they have been checked for ingredients and safe manufacturing processes, that sort of thing – it gives them confidence in the products they are choosing.
