Caveman Cookies

Caveman Cookies come in very jolly, colourful packaging, with pictures of cavemen in different guises - very appealing to kids! As you might guess from the name, these individually wrapped cookies are paleo, sweetened with honey and very soft and sticky. Making a very welcome change from hard, crunchy cookies, here is what our panel thought:

'We really loved the soft and sticky texture of all these cookies, and the use of honey instead of sugar brought an earthy set of flavours, but still deliciously sweet"

Raisin & Walnut: this is the 'original' Caveman cookie - with lovely juicy raisins, subtle but interesting flavours: nicely spiced with ginger, nutmeg & cinnamon.

Ingredients: honey, almond meal, walnuts, raisins, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon

Rainforest - with brazil nuts & cherries: these cookies have really interesting flavours with a nice amount of cherries, well-matched with nutmeg & cayenne, but also with chunks of nuts giving this a bit of bite.

Ingredients: honey, almond meal, brazil nut meal, chopped almonds, dried cherries (cherries, sunflower oil), nutmeg, cayenne pepper

Hazelnut & Carob: all the ingredients are finely ground, so not a 'chunky choc chip' type of cookie; this one has a good balance of flavours and somehow (is it the carob?) it isn't quite as sweet as the others.

Ingredients: honey, hazelnut meal, almond meal, ground carob

Coconut & Macadamia: the coconut and macadamia in this cookie are rather overwhelmed by the honey, which seems a shame for so expensive an ingredient as macadamia. This is another fine-textured cookie, no chunks here, and spiced with ginger.

Ingredients: Almond meal, honey, unsulfured coconut, macadamia nuts, ginger

Allergy advice: contains nuts (see ingredients in bold). Made in a facility that also manufactures products that contain wheat, soya and eggs.

Available online from Amazon, Planet Organic and Paleo Cave, a box of 8 costs approximately £4.00
