Congratulations to the Cake Crusader who has just won a Small Business Sunday award on Twitter!

'Dragon's Den' fans who also tweet will already know about Theo Paphitis' Small Business Sunday awards – but for those of you who don't...

Theo Paphitis is the self-made multi-millionaire, 'approachable' Dragon on the Dragon's Den, a regular, and successful, investor in many of the businesses which have appeared on the show.

Twitter is – well, Twitter... A  massively successful social network on which contributions are limited to 140 characters.

Small Business Sunday (or #sbs as it’s known on Twitter) is run by Theo Paphitis between 5pm and 7.30pm every Sunday.
All entrants write a 140 character message about their company and when they send the tweet they mark it with @TheoPaphitis #sbs so that it comes to the attention of Theo Paphitis and all the other Small Business Sunday entrants. (Don't worry if you don't understand the jargon; if you come to tweet your will soon learn!)
Each week Paphitis chooses'winners' and 'retweets' their tweet to all 139,826 of his followers. This means that not only does the winner get instant exposure to 140,000 people but they get it with Paphitis' imprimatur!

Liz Allan of The Cake Crusader (she makes and decorates cakes for people with a variety of food intolerances – and her Lemon Drizzle cake was 'Commended' in last year's FreeFrom Food Awards) had been watching what tweets were happening over a number of weeks, then entered herself for a couple. On the 3rd week she was re-tweeted by Paphitis!

Since Sunday The Cake Crusader’s' followers' have increased by over 300 and the website is on the first page of Google UK when you put in the search term Gluten Free Cakes.

The Cake Crusader is the 222nd company to win and Liz says that it is like a club; she has already been in contact with the other winners all of whom are very supportive and helpful to each other.

Liz is particularly excited as she feels that her 'win' means that the allergy and intolerance community is also being recognised so she is encouraging other freefrom companies to get involved so that Theo Paphitis see how many freefrom companies there are out there!
