Christine's frangipanes

Winner

Christine’s Puddings Frangipane Tart

‘Lovely crunchy pastry base, especially as it is gluten and dairy free. Delicious frangipane topping – great almond aroma and flavour, soft and not too sweet – and good jam. Excellent product all round – what a treat.’

Highly commended

The FreeFrom Bakehouse Chocolate Macaroons

‘They don’t look much like macaroons but, boy – they taste good! Moist, chewy not too sweet – good balance of coconut versus chocolate, rich, dense and plenty to get your teeth into.’

Lovemore O’Chocos

‘Great Oreo lookalikes – uniform excellent crunch, good vanilla soft centre, great cocoa taste and great aftertaste.’

Perkier Popping Tiffin

‘Jolly good Tiffin – very sweet but that’s Tiffin for you! Great rich salt/sweet balance – looks really attractive.’

Commended

Lazy Day Foods Ginger Truffle Slice

‘Very sweet but lovely heavy ginger flavour. Interesting texture with the crunchy crystals in the moist truffley slice. Ultra rich though – bite sizes maybe?’

Lazy Day Foods Belgian Chocolate Rocky Road

‘An authentic rocky road: soft marshmallows, good gloss on top, rich dark chocolate, soft, chewy texture. Very nice cookie. Great that it managed to be gluten, diary and egg free.’

Lovemore Chocolate Chip Cookies

‘Attractive golden, nutty looking biscuits; nice and crunchy, pleasant caramel flavour and lots of small choc chips. Dessicated coconut adds a pleasant note to the texture.’

Peace of Cake Raspberry Abricotines

‘Very pretty little bite size treats – delicate flavour, good jam. Nice lightly crunchy macaroon shell and soft centre – very pleasant.’
